Official language: English. In the USA, English is spoken by a majority of Americans. However, about 32 million people speak another language at home. Half of them speak Spanish especially in Arizona, Texas, California and New Mexico. The other languages are Amerindian languages such as Navajo and Hopi. It is important to note the languages spoken by immigrants in the main ethnic communities (e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Italian, German, Polish, Greek etc. ).
