Banks open from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 to 15.30. In the City district of London, banks close at 15.00 and some are open on Saturday morning but schedules and services are very variable.


Transportation


Road


The road network is in good condition. Highways are toll-free but you may get charged for passing on certain bridges. Speed limits are indicated in miles: in town: 30 miles / hour (48 km/h) on road: 50 miles / hour (80 km/h) on highway: 70 miles / hour (112 km/h). The maximum authorized alcohol level in the blood when driving is 40 mg / ml of expired air. In London: it is advised to park in parking lots rather than in the streets where places are reserved for the holders of special parking licenses ("resident allowed").


Rail


The British railroad network is quite old and schedules are not always respected. Scotland: very old network in a moderately good condition. Travellers often meet difficulties in booking.

The domestic connections are regularly ensured (one flight per hour for LONDON - EDINBURGH) by domestic companies BRITISH MIDLANDS, AIR UK / KLM, EASYJET and BRITISH AIRWAYS. British Airways ensures worldwide flights at very interesting rates.
