Political system

Thailand is a constitutional monarchy. The Parliament is composed of 2 chambers: the Senate (270 members) and the House of Representatives (391 members). The main parties are: the New Aspiration Party (NAP), the Social Action and the Chat Pattana. The NAP is a conservative party with a strong election basis in rural zones. The King is an extremely influential person on the Thai political scene; the political and military leaders are under his influence, which on several occasions prevented the country from being overthrown.
