Currency

The currency is the CFA franc, currency linked to the French franc.

Transportation

Road

Good general condition of the road network (it covers about 15,000 km, of which 5,000 km are tarred roads) and satisfactory conditions of traffic. It is advised, however, to travel by day. Traffic accidents are more and more numerous, especially with motorbike and motorcycle accidents - several fatal accidents occured in the past few months. It is therefore necessary to be very careful when driving those vehicles, crash helmets must be worn and avoid speed. Motorcycles and rented cars are not insured. In case of an accident, the person who rented out the car, has to face all expenses related to the accident (repair even replacement of the vehicle, payment of the medical expenses of the injured persons, etc.). If the person involved can not pay these charges, he is jailed and judged. It is therefore advised to subscribe an insurance policy in any case.

Air

Maintenance and reliability of the domestic fleet do not call to any particular comment.

Internet

The Internet suffix is: .sn

However, this country has a large variety of ethnic groups which represent a number of different languages, dialects and cultures. Finally, it is important to note that French is the official language used in business and education.
