Agriculture
| In terms of production contribution, Slovenian agriculture plays a role equivalent to the one played by agriculture in the countries of the European Union: indeed, it contributes only to 4.5 % of the GDP, and employs about 7% of the working population. The agricultural structures are very fragmented (5.8 hectares of agricultural surface by farm on average) and, except the competitive regions of the Northeast, the efficiency of this sector remains weak. |

| The areas under cultivation include arable lands and those with permanent crops. In Slovenia, they represent 285,000 hectares. |
