Currency


The currency is the Saudi riyal: free conversion is carried out (there are no exchange controls).



Business hours


Banks: from 8.30 to 12.00 and from 17.00 to 19.00 from Saturday to Wednesday; from 8.30 to 11.30 on Thursday.


Transportation


Road


The road network is generally excellent. A litre of gas costs about 0.15 USD. The fleet of cars is in good shape. The drivers are not very respectful to traffic rules. It is compulsory to turn the headlights on and to fasten the seat belt. However, subscribing to a car insurance is not compulsory.


Rail


There is only one railway connecting Riyadh with Dammam (East Coast), and it is little travelled.

Air


Domestic flights are very frequent and cheap. The maintenance of aircrafts, which are recent, does not call to any particular remark.

Languages spoken


Official language: Arabic. Commercial language :English. It is important to note that the Arabic spoken in the Peninsula differs from the Arabic spoken in North Africa. Although Arabic is most common, English is spoken in hotels and shops.
