Russia - PRACTICAL INFORMATION |
|
Currency
The currency is the rouble ( RUR), 1 rouble = 100 kopecks.
Business hours
Banks open from Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM. You can find foreign exchange offices everywhere, which, generally, appreciate USD or German marks.
Transportation
Road
Police and customs controls are particularly long at the border with Poland, Lithuania and Byelorussia. To drive by night, even on the main roads, is not recommanded (few roadsigns). The frequent drinking when driving behaviour makes journeys by road dangerous. The supply in fuel is good. The green card is required for foreigners.
Rail
Very old. Watch your luggage and documents and lock the door of the compartment from inside during the night.
Air
There are few domestic flights. Planes are generally old and not very comfortable and maintenance procedures are not scrupulously respected.
Internet
The Internet suffix is:
.ru

Official language: Russian. Russian law does not give specific directives with regard to the language which should be used when drawing up contracts. However, a translation in Russian must sometimes be made in certain cases in order to make the administrative work easier. It is important to note that contracts with Russian commercial partners are often written in two languages (English/Russian; German/Russian.)
