Currency
The currency is the leu (plural =lei). There are bills of 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 lei.
Transportation
Road
The network is in an uneven condition. There is only one highway: Bucarest-Pitesti. The roads are often blocked up with horse cars, they are not enlightened, and local vehicles have deficient lighting. It is therefore not recommended to drive by night. There are no problems in finding petrol supplies. The speed limit is 50 km/h in cities and 80 km/h on roads. Take your international license and check the conditions of validity of your insurance.
Rail
The network is in good condition and cheap but comfort is quite an option.
Air
Domestic lines: the connections are ensured by the company Tarom from Baneasa's airport, with a fleet of Antonov 24 and ATR. There are no flights on Sunday. Certain connections are not ensured over the winter. Weather conditions can provoke delays or cancellations of flights.

The official language of Romania is Romanian, spoken by 89.4 % of the population. However, it is important to note that Hungarian and German are also used in this country. Moreover, as far as foreign languages are concerned, the most commonly used in Romania are English and French. Indeed, over the course of the past decade, the population has become less and less interested in learning Russian.
