Currency
From January 1st of 2002, the currency in circulation is the euro. There are some notes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euros. The nominal values of the coins are the following : 1 cent (or 1/100 of euro), 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro and 2 euros.

Banks open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 15:00.

Road
On the IP5, that connects Aveiro to Vilar Formoso, it is compulsory to drive with the lights on, even at daytime. Numerous controls are made and the offenders are liable to fines. The network is in a good condition but caution is recommended, considering the rate of traffic accidents which is superior to the European average. Speed is limited to 120 km/h on highway, 100 km/h on additional ways, 90 km//h on roads and 50 km/h in cities. Caution: on certain multi-lane roads, depending on the lane, there are minimum speed limits under which it is forbidden to drive.
