Political system


The Dukedom of Luxembourg is a two-chambers constitutional monarchy of which The Duke Jean appoints the government, although he only has a symbolic authority. The Prime Minister has full powers and he is responsible in front of the MP's. The House of Representatives is composed of 60 members elected by universal suffrage for 5 years.

The State Council is composed of 21 members.

Prime Minister: Jean-Claude Juncker (Social Christian Party), since January the 20th of 1995.
