The currency is the Litas or LTL.



Business hours


Stores open from 10 AM to 9 PM during the week and from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday; some grocery stores open earlier and close later, they open on Sunday and on days-off but close earlier (5 or 6 PM).


Transportation


Road


The condition of the main freeways is satisfactory. Secondary roads are in bad condition. No problems to find gas supply, except in L.P.G. As for domestic transportation: the trolley bus works from 6 AM to 1 AM. Fare: 60 cts.


Rail


Good general condition of the network, essentially dedicated to freight. Normal passengers traffic.

Languages spoken


Lithuanian is the official language of Lithuania and represents the mother tongue of a large majority of the population (80%). However, Russian and Polish are also spoken in the country. Indeed, Russian-speaking citizens represent approximately 9% of the population and Poles, about 7%. Therefore, Russian is the second language of Lithuanians. In Lithuania, there are also some minorities speaking Ukrainian, Bielorussian, Latvian and Tatar. Otherwise, English is used by governments and also in business. Finally, German is also spoken in restaurants where tourists are likely to go.
