Currency
From January the 1st of 2002, the currency in circulation is the euro. There are some notes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euros. The nominal values of the coins are the following : 1 cent (or 1/100 of euro), 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro and 2 euros.
Transportation
Road
The road network is in good condition. Highways are toll-free but you have to pay to cross some bridges. Speed limits are indicated in miles: in cities: 30 miles / hour (48 km/h), on roads: 50 miles/hour (80 km/h) and on highways: 70 miles/hour (112 km/h). The maximum alcohol level in the blood when driving is 40 mg/ml of expired air.
Rail
The Irish railroad network is quite old and the schedules are not always respected. Travellers often have difficulties in booking.

Ireland is an English-speaking country.
Official language: Irish. Commercial language: English. The constitution of the republic recognizes Irish as the first official language. Nevertheless, it is important to note that only 30% of the population have command of the Irish (Gaelic) language. Indeed, only 50,000 people in Ireland speak this language daily. Irish is still used in certain regions in the West of Ireland. English and Irish are used for the names of cities as well as road signs. Business correspondence and documents are written in English.
