Croatia - PRACTICAL INFORMATION |
|
Currency
Since June, 1994, the currency is the Kuna, which is issued in bills of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Kunas and in coins (called Lipa).
Business hours
Banks open from Monday to Friday from 7.00 to 19.00, on Saturday from 7.00 to 12.00.
Transportation
Road
The network is generally in good condition and does not present any risks in terms of traffic. However, it remains very limited: the Zagreb-Karlovac, the Kupjac-Rijeka (in the direction of Istrie), and Zagreb - border F.R.Y sections. On the other hand, a particular attention is recommended on the main and secondary roads because they are not regularly watched and lack followed-up maintenance. In particular, stone falls are frequent on mountainous roads because of an often unstable ground. Besides that, finding a gas station is not a problem and the organisation of help, in the event of an accident, is generally very satisfactory, although relatively slow in isolated zones.
Rail
It serves only big cities. Not expensive but slow.
Air
The aircrafts maintenance of the domestic air fleet does not call to any particular remark.
Internet
The Internet suffix is:
.hr

However, the country also has national minorities which are represented by Slavonic languages such as Serb, Czech, Slovak, Ruthann and Ukrainian, as well as by Roman languages such as Italian. It is also important to note the use of Germanic languages (German) as well as Uralian languages (Hungarian).
