Agriculture
The country derives its main resources from the agriculture which is composed of small traditional farms in heights (corns, beans) and big plantations in plains and valleys (sugar cane, coffee, bananas, etc. , for the exportation). Guatemala is the eighth coffee producer in the world. The coffee increase at the beginning of 1997, did not allow Guatemala to draw all the profits expected, because their sea-transport means to Europe were not sufficient enough. |
