Currency


The currency is the koruna (CSK). You will find numerous exchange points, notably when arriving at the airport; they are open twenty-four hours a day. The Banks have the best exchange rates. The slot machines accept Eurocard and Visa cards, to some extend. However, more and more stores and restaurants accept credit cards.

Languages spoken


Official language: Czech. This Slavonic language is spoken by 96% of the population. In the Czech Republic, the knowledge of foreign languages is very weak although young people sometimes know English. As far as the older population is concerned, they often speak some German although the second language at the communism era was Russian.
